Building upon its more than 100 years of institutional history and with deep knowledge of the New York construction market, the General Contractors Association fights for its members by negotiating collective bargaining agreements, advocating for smart infrastructure investment, working with government and public utilities, offering training and guidance on safety and other industry priorities, and keeping up-to-date on information critical to the industry.

Benefits of Membership

Building upon its more than 100 years of institutional history and with deep knowledge of the New York construction market, the General Contractors Association provides a unified voice to promote the role of heavy construction owners, trades and the services that support them in New York City and New York State.

Industry-specific information: GCA provides members with essential, members only information on current bidding opportunities, wage rates, union agreements, arbitration decisions, work rules and holiday schedules.
Collective Bargaining: GCA negotiates collective bargaining agreements for our members with unions and public owners to ensure they are treated fairly in contractual issues. We represent our members at grievance hearings and arbitration, and offer guidance and advocacy on labor law changes.
Advocacy and Representation: GCA brings a strong voice to the table on issues that matter most to the industry. Our staff meets with elected officials to: discuss industry priorities including promoting investment in infrastructure at the local, state and national levels; offer testimony related to contracts, infrastructure investment and work rules; support effective changes in bidding and contracting processes; and collaborate with other organizations, trade associations and coalitions to advance issues of importance to the industry.
Training and Guidance: Members of the GCA have unparalleled access to essential training and guidance on safe work practices and other industry priorities, and consistently perform their work with fewer incidents than any other segment of the construction market.
Events: GCA members attend networking events, outings and critical training classes.

The GCA represents the heavy civil construction industry in New York City. There are two levels of GCA membership:
